• Additionally, devised and implemented all policies, systems and procedures for the new department to support the effective operation
• Set up all HSE procedures for the new department to ensure compliance with relevant legislation and school policies; including COSHH procedures for the storage and use of a range of chemicals
• Role includes line management responsibility for another Technician, including assigning duties and providing support as required
• Other key duties include setting up equipment, experiments and exercises for science lessons, ordering of stock for the department, as well as providing in-class assistance and lesson cover when required

• Having initially been employed to provide in-class assistance to Teachers, this role developed to that of Science Technician, supporting the Mathematics and Science departments
• Involved responsibility for the set-up, testing and calibration of a range of laboratory equipment as well as providing instructions to students and teachers in safe use to ensure adherence to safety requirements.
• Invited to join the Ysgol Bae Baglan Super-School as Head Science Technician in August 2016 when it was announced that Sandfields Comprehensive would become part of the new establishment

San Antonio, Texas Area

• Selected to participate in this Cultural Exchange programme which involved working as a Lifeguard in a busy water park in Texas, USA for the summer season
• Developed a broad range of skills including how to handle the large responsibility of guarding the pool; how to communicate effectively with a range of different people and how to work well and remain calm under pressure
• Key personal achievements within this role included playing a leading role in saving a person’s life
