I am the General Manager of Advanced Personnel, one of New Zealand’s leading blue-collar recruitment companies. We are proudly Kiwi-owned and operated supported by a strong team across our seven branches nationwide. My parents founded Advanced Personnel in the mid-80s when at the time, I was only seven years old. So, by the time I was 21 years old recruitment was not just in my blood but in my DNA. I must admit, in the early days I felt it was a bit of a mismatch. I liked fast pace, adrenaline boosting environments, actually wanted to be a Police Officer, not so much shirt, tie and emails. But recruitment grew on me very quickly, although never the shirt & tie to be fair! I was lucky to have been supported and mentored by some exceptional people and now fortunate as the GM to pass the knowledge on and lead a wonderful team across New Zealand.With over 20 years’ experience in the recruitment industry, I have personally witnessed the highs and lows it can offer. And while the lows can be hard to manage (recession, Covid, talent shortages) the highs outweigh it all. Providing meaningful employment for our candidates and recruitment solutions for our clients is rewarding work, and we continue to foster this culture throughout Advanced Personnel. As a leader I believe in the importance of communication, collaboration, growth, and working towards common goals for all stakeholders. I have a hands-on, boots-on-the-ground style of leadership and bring this approach to the teams I lead.I have been a member of the RCSA (Recruitment, Consulting & Staffing Association) for 15 years and currently Vice president for the NZ council. Being able to support the industry we work in is a passion of mine and I continue to push for positive steps forward for the industry that allow us to continue to do the work we do. When I’m not a work I am a husband and father to two wonderful kids. I enjoy getting outside, cycling being my biggest passion currently, closely followed by martial arts.
