I worked in the West Elm Work category of Steelcase Inc. In my role as a product manager I partnered with the West Elm design team in Brooklyn to develop and launch new seating, lounge, and primary workspace furniture inspired by West Elm's residential aesthetic. I also worked with our brand, communications, and sales teams to create impactful launches with all of the necessary sales, training, and support materials.West Elm Work is a new brand within Steelcase that functions in many ways like a start-up. That has given me the opportunity to spend more time doing market outreach with customers, architects, and designers explaining our business model, value proposition, and product portfolio. Working with West Elm has given me experience building strong working relationships with external business and design partners while balancing the business needs of multiple stakeholders internally and externally.Responsibilities include:- Identifying portfolio needs and growth opportunities.- Synthesizing market research and portfolio needs into new product briefs for Steelcase leadership and West Elm design team.- Creating and managing all marketing inputs for multiple development projects from concept through launch.- Managing portfolio of West Elm Work products including sales & dealer support, training & events, marketing collateral, product certifications, and all life cycle management activities.

I currently work as a product manager for Steelcase Inc. within the EMEA furniture marketing team based in Munich, Germany. My primary focus is the development of new products that meet the changing needs of the workplace. For the last several years I have worked on global projects in all stages of development with teams in the US and APAC as well as locally oriented projects specifically for the EMEA market. Early product development tasks:- Conduct primary and secondary research and translate findings into addressable user and work-space needs.- Synthesize needs and market research into compelling business case and project brief that contains all critical marketing inputs: user or market insights/needs, product criteria, pricing, opportunity size, competitive landscape, and product positioning. Technical tasks: - Detailed inputs for codifying products in sales and manufacturing databases - Technical literature for understanding, specifying, and installing new products. Launch and communications tasks:- Work with launch and communications partners to create proper product storytelling and messaging - Training internal sales and sales support teams as well as dealer personnel, architects, and interior designers - Work with communications partner on launch materials including brochures, photography, video, showroom offers, and collateral for specific events.
