Responsible for determination of ADME/PK properties of new drug leads. Duties include: in vitro and in vivo metabolite identification; evaluationof biological (microsomal, hepatocyte, plasma, etc.) and chemical stability; determination of excretion route and extent of protein binding; interpretation and prediction of pharmacokinetic properties; reaction phenotyping; etc. Supervision of associate.

Characterized the metabolism of neonicotinoid insecticides and structurally related compounds in mammals. Emphasis placed on identification of metabolizing enzymes (aldehyde oxidase and CYPs) and discovery of neurotoxic or reactive metabolites. In vitro human metabolism data compared with preclinical species to predict toxicity. Worked closely with organic chemist in syntheses of putative metabolites.
