I take pride in the experiences I have been fortunate enough to accumulate over both my professional and personal life so far.With over seven years experience of constructing, maintaining and repairing the Cumbrian power distribution network, I have progressed through the authorisation ranks to become an authorised person in both LV & 6.6/11kV planned and faults. This has culminated in my current authorisation level of 6.6/11kV SAP. Throughout this time, I have had the privilege of gaining valuable knowledge of how to manage construction projects with strict timelines and budgets. These range from domestic service works all the way up to multi-span 11kV overhead line rebuilds for network reinforcement. These skills have been reinforced and refined by my work in the fault department. When a fault occurs, there is no planned construction scheme, only you and how you react. The faults environment forces you to think on your feet to come up with a safe and cost-effective solution, whilst under the pressure of customers being off supply which costs the company regulatory fines.Alongside my engineering role at ENWL, I also co-own and direct Lakeland Construction, a property development company based in Cumbria. Our aim is to develop high quality, affordable homes for families to grow into, along with proving that ethical investing can be profitable. The inspiration for this came from a disappointing lack of properties which have either been built with the minimum required amenities (such as a lawn being an added extra) or properties which are advertised as being "renovated" actually having only been decorated. Projects I have personally completed include complete floorplan changes, back to brick renovations and renewing the incoming services to future proof properties energy, internet and water supplies.Lakeland Construction aim to:1) Provide a contemporary design. 2) Provide a house with 21st century amenities (e.g. Hard wired internet throughout).3) Provide reassurance to the buyer that the house they are purchasing is not a ticking time bomb waiting for completion before falling apart. 4) Provide a positive return for our investors. 5) Provide a sense of moral integrity, whilst making money.Where budgets and timelines are important in my role as an engineer, nothing is ever as serious as having your own money on the line. In both instances, I have a track record of completing projects on time and under budget, resulting in greater profits for both Electricity North West and Lakeland Construction
