As a news editor for a local college newspaper, my duties involved finding stories related to recent or upcoming events on campus or in the community, assigning them to writers, and then managing the writers while they wrote the articles. As the writers were all freelance, they often needed help and encouragement, so I would set up interview appointments for them and maintain a personal connection with each of my writers, so they would feel comfortable if they needed to ask me any questions.During the course of the two weeks until we went to print, I would also write several articles myself, before receiving the articles from my writers and editing them to a proper standard for publishing.
