Built a successful and reputable gifted program for advanced learners. Taught a self-contained gifted class and addressed the unique needs of gifted and 2e learners. Led students in meaningful experiential learning opportunities (i.e., discovery-based learning, project-based learning, academic competitions, and genius hour) while teaching all subjects in a highly integrated, student-directed, differentiated fashion. Created an engaging curriculum designed to meet the intellectual, academic, creative, social, and emotional needs and interests of gifted and twice-exceptional students. Wrote several successful grants and secured funding to provide access to materials and unique learning experiences for students. Established a virtual reality lab where students used 3D design software and equipment to plan, design, and create VR games and learning experiences. Officiated in numerous administrative duties related to gifted programming and advanced math placement and programming and regularly contributed to school leadership councils and in team, department, school, and district decision-making. Mentored other teachers and taught professional development classes in the school, district, and surrounding districts. Guided the work of numerous paraprofessionals, volunteers, and pre-service teachers; provided ongoing training and support; and allowed these individuals to thrive as important role players in the learning community. Hosted open houses, established connections with organizations and businesses in the community, and provided learning opportunities for family and community engagement, including teaching parent classes to help parents better understand giftedness and support their children. Built a strong rapport with students and parents, and established a reputation for a positive learning atmosphere. Helped students dramatically exceed expected yearly growth benchmarks.
