Emergency Manager
CurrentResponsible for management and coordination of all emergency management program activities. Assists development, maintenance, and implementation of emergency operations procedures, continuity plans, hazard mitigation plans, recovery plans, and all other disaster plans. Interfaces with police, fire, and city departments to implement emergency preparedness, public education, disaster response and disaster recovery programs and procedures. Facilitates communication and cooperation with regional partners. Serves the Emergency Operations Center as EOC Manager during activations. Renders assistance according to provisions of mutual aid agreements. Coordinates training and exercises for emergency operations and response personnel. Implements, maintains, and tests emergency notification systems. Prepares and conducts risk assessments and coordinates system improvement. Maintains all required records. Implements citywide compliance with the National Incident Management System and the Incident Command System (NIMS/ICS). Participates in high-level policy and decision-making. Assist development and administration of budgets and grants. Facilitates, coordinates, and engages external agencies including county, state, federal, volunteer, and community resources. Provides expertise in disaster preparedness, response, recovery and mitigation. Coordinates documentation for post-disaster grant reimbursements. Stays current on state and federal emergency guidelines and statutory requirements. Delivers disaster preparedness public education programs. Interfaces with the Colorado emergency management community. Prepares reports and documents for Citywide and departmental policies, procedures, and guidelines. Ensures consistency with staff policies and other departments responsible for enforcing rules and regulations, government laws, City ordinances, or codes related to emergency management. Assists safety and loss control programs. Other duties as assigned.
