Additional responsibilities included reviving and coordinating the Adams County Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC), fulfilling all County requirements under the Emergency Planning & Community Right-to-Know Act (EPCRA), ambulance licensing, website and social media management, Emergency Operations Center (EOC) planning and procedural development, training and exercise planning support, facilitation, and participation. As a Safety Coordinator responding to the British Petroleum (BP) Deep Water Horizon Oil Spill, I worked within the Louisiana Incident Command Post in Houma, Louisiana. I was responsible for the coordination and logistics of 30 vessel decontamination Safety Officers. Duties included development and delivery of command safety briefings, accident reporting, crisis management, coordinating safety operations, incident command briefings, time sheet management/reporting, employee rotations, travel logistics, new safety orientation and training development, and daily problem solving. I coauthored the National Response Corporation (NRC) Severe Weather Preparedness Plan, which outlined hurricane evacuation procedures and continuity of operations plans for all land and offshore personnel, and equipment.

AmeriCorps *NCCC, is a full-time, team-based residential community service program that has projects in areas of disaster response, public safety, unmet human needs, education and environment. The majority of my AmeriCorps service focused on recovery in the wake of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. The first year as a Corps Member, my delegated responsibilities included media relations, volunteer coordinating, construction training, team motivator, physical fitness planner, project safety coordinator, and was voted by my peers to the National Director’s Gulf Recovery Safety Council representing the Denver Campus Fire Unit.
