Ryan’s career began when friend and NBA superstar Shawn Kemp requested Ryan be involved in a series of commercials he was shooting for Reebok. Hired as a PA, Ryan was introduced to the industry that would shape his career and start him on the path to directing and producing. The Reebok commercial was followed by a series of projects where Ryan worked in every aspect of production; managing communication between directors, talent, cast + crew, locations, budgets, problem solving, set safety and risk management, while being mentored by some of the greats in the industry such as legendary Director Joe Pytka and 1st AD, Austin McCann. A highlight was working with Swedish Director Jonas Åkerlund for 9 months, shooting Madonna’s Reinvention Tour across North America + Europe. Ryan’s first project as an 1st AD (non-union) was a commercial for Director Doug Liman, Starburst, followed by Nike Commercials with Tiger Woods for Propaganda Films producer Jeff Roher and music videos for bands such as Nirvana, Green Day, Smashing Pumpkins and Good Charlotte with legendary director Samuel Bayer.In 2002, Ryan became a member of the Directors Guild of America (DGA) in the 2nd AD category and landed his first union project, a Bud Lite commercial with another legendary Director, Rocky Morton, and 1st AD Chris Blanch. After gaining 1st AD status in the Guild, Ryan went on to work alongside many renowned directors including Doug Liman (Jason Bourne franchise), Erich Joyner (Owner-Tool), Mouse McCoy, Rudi Schwab, and Chris Nolan, as well as many production companies and studios.Ryan continues to grow his impressive portfolio that encompasses campaigns for industry giants including Google, YouTube, Amazon, BMW, Nike, Capitol One, Neutrogena, Disneyland, Mattel, Google, H+M, Lexus, Samsung, the NBA + NFL, along with artists and celebrities including Jennifer Lopez, Taylor Swift, Lenny Kravitz, The Rolling Stones, Maraih Carey, Justin Timberlake, Shaquille O’Neill, Tom Brady, Payton & Eli Manning, Rhiannon, Zooey Deschanel, David Bowie, Reese Witherspoon, and Halle Berry.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yflwpGSi864
