Responsible for the staffing of I&C and electrical professionals on Power Generation Services projects in Black & Veatch's Energy business. The Control/Electrical Section staff supports between 600-800 power generation projects each year. Other responsibilities included development of proposals, coordination with other design offices, and career development, while executing multiple projects as Engineering Manager or Discpline Lead Engineer - I&C/Electrical.Projects supported as Engineering Manager or Discipline Lead Engineer during this assignment included the following:Control System Retrofit Projects - studies and detailed design for the replacement of existing power plant control systems for supercritical and subcritical coal, combined cycle, and simple cycle power plants.NERC CIP Cyber Security Projects - studies and detailed design for the application of cyber and physical security systems at existing and new power plants, substations, and control centers in support of the NERC CIP standards.Power Plant Development Projects - studies and conceptual design of new supercritical and subcritical coal, combined cycle, and simple cycle facilities, for both domestic and international clients.Air Quality Control System Retrofit Projects - studies, conceptual, and detailed design for the addition of air quality control systems to existing power plants.Protective Relay Replacement Projects - detailed design for replacement of existing electro-mechanical protective relays with solid-state multi-function protective relays, including design of associated protective relay panels and wiring.Arc Flash and Electrical Modeling Projects - development of electrical models of existing power plant auxiliary power systems using ETAP and SKM software. Analysis of the electrical models, including load flow, short circuit, motor starting, and arc flash studies. Development of recommendations to mitigate issues identified by the model.
