I have been involved within the asbestos industry since 2001.I started out as an operative before becoming a supervisor and then onto contracts coordinator before leaving the UK to work in Christchurch, New Zealand as technical manager for ARL.An opportunity came around to join Ceres NZ LLC as their Asbestos Manager and was too good to turn down.The company is very ambitious and has big plans for future growth in New Zealand which I am looking forward to being part ofThe amount of changes within the industry every year means I have to keep on top of all new regulations and systems.My day-to-day responsibilities involve,• Tendering for new projects obtained from GETS, Tenderlink and clients request• Meeting with potential new clients through networking or word of mouth• Pre start initial – site visits, client meetings and project planning• Generating of site-specific safety plans which cover method statements, risk assessments & enclosure drawings• Site visits ensuring SSSP/RAMS are being followed correctly when the project starts• Ensuring projects are kept to program and cost by way of program planning and daily costing’s• Ensuring any necessary changes are made to the RAMS/drawings when required• Staff competency and training needs analysis• Forming of new templates for daily work sheets and updating when required• Weekly site reports to clients to update how our works are progressing• Plant and material requisition forms for projects to ensure all required plant and materials are present on-site for works to commence• Ensuring new regulations are adhered to and reiterated to company asbestos supervisors and operatives/removalistsTraining list,• SMSTS (UK)• SiteSafe Gold Card (NZ)• IOSH (UK)• Licensed Asbestos Contract Managers Course (UK)• Asbestos Supervisor (UK)• First Aid (UK)• RPE Maintenance (UK)• Safe working at height (UK)• Plan of Work & Risk Assessment Course (UK)
