My name is Ryan Esteban and I am a mechanical engineer that has recently graduated in December with a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Maryland College Park. As a student involved in the campus, I express strong leadership skills. I am a Student’s Success Mentor to freshman physics and engineering students by providing guidance to the students through my experiences in the engineering classes. To further assist my freshman students, I also recommend for them to join ASME of which I am the Section President. This can help build connections with professors and students with the same interests. As the Section President, I use my abilities in the organization to complete objectives in a timely manner ensuring my organization is successful. I maintain a 3.7 GPA and make the Dean’s Lists often. My determination to succeed and a strong work ethic will not allow me to slack on my studies as I serve as a role model to others. Throughout my college career, I have gained experience using various computer languages and CAD software, such as MATLAB and Creo. Recently, I took an interest in 3D- printing and purchase one to design and make tools that would open doors and push buttons on the elevators. After creating a few of them, I gave them to students and facilities members to help prevent the spread of Covid-19 on the campus. With my experience with the problem-solver badge, I address the importance of coding languages in the introductory courses. Thus, I developed and implemented a session to introduce freshman students to how to use the fundamentals of coding languages.
