In addition to my role as Head of Senior School, as the Deputy Principal, my role is to support the College Principal in ensuring that the school provides a high-quality education that prepares students for their future. The Head of Senior School is a College Executive member and deputises for the College Principal. The role requires a dynamic educational leader who has the energy, drive and commitment to lead and develop an outstanding learning culture in the Senior School and ensure best practice in educational and wellbeing outcomes for students. The Head of Senior School inspires and motivates staff to be leaders of learning and encourages innovation and collaboration in professional practice. In thinking, planning and acting strategically, the Head of Senior School facilitates continuous improvement of the Senior School program. The Head of Senior School supports and enhances the development of the school’s K-12 focus in all areas of school life and works closely with the Senior School Executive. A close working relationship exists between the Head of Senior School and the Head of Junior School, Heads of Learning Areas, the Head of Data Analysis and Strategy, the Year Patrons, the Careers Coordinator and the School Psychologist/Learning Support Team.

Working as a member of the Senior School Executive team, I was responsible for the quality and effectiveness of the curriculum, learning and teaching across the senior school. A key focus is developing and nurturing the school's Culture of Thinking, a learning environment in which collective and individual thinking is valued, visible and actively promoted as part of the regular day-to-day experience of all group members, staff and students. Key accountabilities:Innovate Masada's Culture of Thinking within and beyond the college.Leading the process of curriculum development in the Senior School.Innovate the professional learning of teachers.Mentor staff undergoing NESA accreditation process and support the process of Teacher Accreditation.Support and encourage staff in their use of technologies in their classrooms and programs, including expanding their horizons.Direct the teaching and learning processes in the Senior School.Assist in the recruitment process and retention process of Senior School staff.Induction of new staff members in the Senior School to our teaching culture.Ensure data is analysed from various testing sources to inform teaching and learning.Provide professional leadership and management of staff.Support the Head of Senior School to develop and support an effective and collaborative Teaching Team across Years 7 – 12.Keep up to date with educational developments, particularly in relation to curriculum, pedagogy and resource development.Formulate and revise documentation required by NESA and ensure all requirements are adhered to by the school.Work in collaboration with the Head of Senior School to ensure that teachers implement, appropriate programs that are designed to meet the needs of all students; have effective processes for assessment and reporting and effective practices for the tracking of individual student academic progress.Review and advise on school reporting and assessment.Deputise for the Head of Senior School.

I was responsible for the integration of innovative ICT based teaching and learning across the College.Increasing teacher competence using ICT in their practice, as well as developing an innovative and student led curriculum with teaching and learning opportunities for 21st century learners. In my role, I worked closely with all teaching staff and departments.Developing the school's Culture of Thinking through these learning opportunities to make thinking and learning more active, visible and meaningful.My specific accountabilities:Whole School Professional DevelopmentProvide a program that ensures all staff have appropriate technical and core IT skills.Engage staff in the latest pedagogical thinking and practice to facilitate and enhance teaching and student learning.Liaise with teaching staff to facilitate the integration of innovative and technological practices in to the teaching and learning programs across all curriculum areas including methodology and assessment. Develop a program of PD for academic year, encompassing technologies and innovative practice.Lead and support the innovative and creative integration of technologies into teaching and learning across the school including the exploration of alternate curriculum and classroom models.Develop, implement and review a Technologies (eLearning) strategy - Primary school involvement: K-12 strategy.Technology Coaching – Inquiry Action MatrixLead Professional development portfolio – staff opting into PD around technologies.Learning platform and infrastructureWork with the ICT network Manager to ensure the ICT infrastructure supports eLearning and the use of student’s personal devices.Develop, implement and review a Learning Platform for students and staff. In addition to my role at Masada College, this involves working as an online coach in collaboration with Project Zero, Professional Education at Harvard Graduate School of Education (HGSE). Offering online professional education courses that are research-based and grounded in day-to-day teaching and leadership practice participants apply what they learn, as they learn. In these asynchronous online courses, participants work with peers facing similar challenges and take away real-world solutions, inspiration, and the support of an engaged community. Each program promotes active, team-based learning that supports collaboration and sharing in schools and districts.At the heart of the Cultures of Thinking online courses is the notion that effective teaching takes more than good planning and instructional design; it also requires attention to the culture of the classroom. But how do we create culture? How do we shape and mold it so that it supports students’ development as thinkers and learners capable of deep understanding?

The Project Zero Australia Network (PZAus) is a network of Australian educators inspired by Project Zero ideas from the Harvard Graduate School of Education. Drawing on Project Zero pedagogy and practice, we believe that:learning is a consequence of thinkingunderstanding is not only something you have, but something you dointelligence is not one thing, but many, and is something that can be learnedthinking skills alone are not sufficient; we must also have the disposition to use themthinking and learning are processes that are deepened when we make them visiblecollaboration is the stuff of learning.A central aim of PZAus is to share our passion for Project Zero ideas with others by providing free professional learning opportunities for Australian educators.

Adopting a collaborative and engaging style, I was successful in planning, developing and delivering the professional development programme for teachers across the college and have been recognised for improving the quality and consistency of teaching and learning. I have been continually assessed as an ‘Outstanding’ teacher by Senior Leaders, Ofsted and the Local Authority. Subsequent to this I was employed as an external consultant at the school to develop teaching and learning in the newly formed Humanities Faculty.
