I led a team of 19 direct reports who managed and maintained 500+ theatres in 6 Dunedin Hubs, and another 6 campuses across Invercargill, Christchurch, Wellington, and Auckland. As a group, we also provided turnkey A/V solutions for 40+ Capital and Campus Development projects valued at over $400m.Our team was the highest performer in the Shared Services Division with 4 Operational Excellence Awards, and one AETM Excellence award.

From 2012-2018, Swank AV merged with PSAV, and then PSAV with Encore.Between 2010-2013 | 2017-2018, I filled various roles for each company during these mergers.2010-2011 Operations Manager, Loews Hollywood:Operations and logistics role in the Hollywood & Highlands complex. It was a large volume property where my role involved shipping and receiving production equipment, quality controlling set-ups, coordinating pack-in/pack-out, rostering, freelance coordination, and general tightening of operations through SOP developments, documentation, etc. It also involved a fair amount of coordination between multiple events. Notable clients were 2011 Oscars, ASCAP Pop Music Awards.2011-2013 Sales Manager, Grand Wailea:Sales role in one of Maui’s premiere resort properties. Focussed primarily on Fortune 500 incentive trips, the role involved providing operationally viable solutions for incoming groups, tailored to each budget and specification. Being an island, we routinely shipped equipment in from other islands and west coast, which made communication and coordination critical. 2017- Director of Event Technology, Hilton Hawaiian Village:Programme management on Oahu for #1 Hilton in the world. High volume convention clientele, with a mix of outdoor events. Our team of 13 executed all Sales, Operations, and Tech roles for the A/V needs of the property. In addition to similar challenges experienced in Maui, were weather contingencies, and multiple external contractors who required liaising2017-2018- Director of Event Technology, SkyCity AucklandI took an opportunity to assist the Staging Connections SkyCity team in transitioning over to PSAV/Encore after a corporate acquisition, which gained me entry into New Zealand. During this period, my role was to create a seamless experience with our convention partners and stakeholders, while executing all elements of change management including roles, redundancies, SOP's, H&S and normal event execution as well.

As part of WSP's Finish arm of Post Production, I enjoyed the privilege of building a department from the ground up. I began as a freelancer for 2 years, then became the first department head as company grew. Upon exit from company, I freelanced for another 2 years. My work included authoring department handbook, employee job descriptions, post-production SOP's for interdepartmental and contractor liaisons, while delivering every aspect associated with broadcast audio deliverables for multiple shows and deadlines. We created our own sound libraries, and worked with Emmy-winning composers as well.Clients included Discovery, History, A&E, Fox News, Travel, Discovery Health, Nat Geo, and more. All told, we delivered for 400+ IMDB-certified credits, and produced programming well in excess of 100 million viewers with notable programs such as Mountain Men, Log Cabin Living, Beach Hunters, Legends & Lies, and more.

Between 2007-2010, I filled various roles for MSI.2007- Driver, San Diego / Southern CaliforniaI began at MSI as apprentice Driver Technician. The role included safely packing, balancing and delivering cases of audio visual equipment throughout Southern California, as well as setting up and operating events. As an apprentice, I began small and worked into larger ones.2008- Warehouse Supervisor (Audio), San DiegoI eventually became the Warehouse Supervisor for Audio. My roles included inventory / supply chain management, system design, freight & delivery coordination, and all duties associated with overseeing a busy warehouse. 2009-2010- A/V Operations Manager, San DiegoI then transitioned to the Hotel side of Event Operations, working at San Diego Harbour Marriott, and Tonw & Country Resort Hotel & Spa. These roles took what I learned, and applied them at scale in large convention centre settings. The added complexity of multiple disciplines, delivery schedules, rostering, budgeting, and hotel liaising made for a challenging but rewarding time.Notable clients included ESPN X-Games, Comic-Con, AARP, NAB, Sun God Festival, MLB All Star Weekend, NBA Jams Summer Tour, Time-Warner.

I spent 1999-2001 learning the craft of recording at Riversongs Studio in Henderson.I then transitioned to Digital Insight in 2002. DI was a large, turn key facility designed to execute musical recordings at the highest level possible. Starting as an intern, I worked my way as an apprentice from duplicating CD's and cleaning the studio, to grabbing a seat in the B Room, and eventually the A Room.The music business was a great mixture of logistical planning (getting musicians booked and set up, shipping special equipment from all over), working with artists to help them feel and sound their best, and then technically executing the final details of mixing and mastering as needed.

Escondido, California

My first management role involved running the day to day operations of several special needs group homes in the Mountain Shadows Care Centre complex. Each home housed 6 special needs individuals with varying conditions and abilities. My role was to ensure the successful execution of rehabilitative programs planned by occupational, recreational, and medical professionals for the residents. Health and Safety was also a major component of the role. So our goal as a team was to not only meet, but exceed current state standards wherever possible. This role taught me so many things as a young man, chiefly- never take anything for granted.
