About Ryan Gormley
A hardworking and innovative twenty-seven-year-old ARB RIBA Lead Architect at the Fabric Design Group. Currently specialising in the delivery of high-end residential dwellings across the midlands and wider area. Working closely with Fabric's in house design and construction team to assist in the development of schemes throughout all RIBA work stages.Fabric Design & Build are a collective of architects, designers, interior designers and construction specialists who create beautiful spaces and buildings. Based in Solihull, we are a small office, but a practice fuelled by a passion for what we do. At Fabric, we design, we develop, and, we deliver. As Lead Architect, I closely assist in delivering our unique and extensive design services which consist of drawing packages, visualisations, detailing, 3D modelling, and, physical modelling. A process which in turn definitively creates memorable spaces which will continually deliver through their usage and lifetime.Prior to joining the Fabric Design Group, I attained over four years experience working for two AJ100 architectural practices; Associated Architects LLP and Pozzoni Architecture Ltd. Throughout this period, attaining a specialism in the delivery of Higher Education projects as well as experience within residential developments for both private schemes and mass housing developments. Additionally, gaining experience in a broader range of architectural projects, including extra-care schemes and commercial developments. Experience of delivering such schemes has allowed to simultaneously develop in-depth knowledge and experience using Revit software across multiple design stages.Attaining my PgDip in Architectural Practice (RIBA Part III) at Birmingham City University during summer 2020. With previous educational experience consisting of a Masters at Birmingham City University and an undergraduate degree at Oxford Brookes University. Throughout taking a keen interest in refurbishment and development within a historical context across several project briefs including theatres, housing, mixed-use developments, and, memorial sites.Several award nominations have acknowledged my design and theoretical work. The second-year thesis design project of the MArch course received a RIBA President’s Silver Medal Nomination, while simultaneously earning a President’s Medal nomination for my dissertation study. Additionally, during the first year of the Master’s course, the technical awareness of my design work was acknowledged through an APS student award nomination.

It compromises of a design centre, Labs, Seminar spaces, Postgraduate study spaces and Staff offices all centred around an impressive five-storey atrium. I began working on this project at the final stages of stage 4 and have played a pivotal role in the on-site delivery of this flagship scheme. Co-ordinating the extensive envelope package consisting of curtain walling, GRC panels (brick slip and concrete finish), corten cladding and, traditional masonry. INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY, SOLIHULL COLLEGERIBA Work Stages 1-5Solihull College is seeking to refurbish its existing Woodlands Campus across three workshop spaces. The phased development involves a minor extension to an external store to create a bespoke brick workshop, a major refurbishment and expansion of an existing mechanical workshop and a final purpose-built electrical workshop space.
