Since joining GCI in 2008, my career in telecommunications has evolved significantly, starting from cellular porting and internal activations to roles demanding technical expertise and leadership.With a Computer Network Technician degree from the University of Alaska Anchorage, I gained a solid foundation in CCNA, Server+, Security+, and A+, essential for my technical growth.In the field services division as a triple play installer and technician, I honed skills in cable modem, EMTA, and cable TV installations, deepening my understanding of telecommunication systems. In 2010, I advanced to Implementation Services at GCI, where I was responsible for installing core infrastructure across Alaska and in Seattle and Portland. My technical skills include setting up battery and rectifier plants, switches, servers, routers, and implementing microwave, satellite, and fiber optics systems, all in compliance with Telcordia GR-1275 and BICSI standards.A career highlight is leading the Terra project, where I managed project coordination beyond technical installations. This required detailed planning and logistics, such as shipping arrangements and chartering planes and helicopters, to tackle Alaska's challenging terrain. As lead technician and foreman, I played a key role in delivering internet and telecommunications to rural Alaska, showcasing my technical prowess and project management skills as this specific project went on for almost a decade with continued upgrade efforts.My time at GCI reflects my dedication to using technology to connect communities, seeing each project as a chance to bridge digital gaps and make a significant impact. I am eager to continue this journey, applying my skills and experience to innovate and lead in the telecom industry.
