Ryan Hames Email and Phone Number
My name is Ryan Hames, and I am in the final semester of my Master of Agribusiness graduate program at Texas A&M after completing my undergraduate studies with a Bachelor of Food Science and Technology degree with an industrial emphasis. I am very passionate about the overlapping applications of food science, advancing technology, and their effects on businesses, and I believe that pursuing a master’s degree in agribusiness will help facilitate my career goals.During my academic and professional career, I have acquired invaluable experience and knowledge in the food industry. My diverse background in customer service and the food industry has given me a unique perspective on the agricultural supply chain and the importance of agribusiness in the global economy. For example, one of the highlights of my academic career was a hands-on opportunity in a cereal quality research lab in which we analyzed wheat kernels from around the nation for the USDA. This experience provided me with a comprehensive insight into the agricultural supply chain and the critical role that farmers play in the production process. Moreover, I gained months of firsthand exposure in single-kernel analysis, including determining kernel size, color, rigidity, dough viscosity, and protein and moisture content. This knowledge was crucial in understanding how farmers grow and produce wheat, the challenges they face, and the importance of ensuring quality standards in food production. In my professional career, I had the opportunity to assist in the production of space food for astronauts at NASA. This position was unique in that it required a thorough understanding of ingredient processing and quality management. I observed firsthand the importance of confirming that every step in the production process is carefully monitored and controlled to maintain the safety of a final product. Likewise, working as an RV park manager and deli customer service representative at HEB were equally beneficial experiences. In these positions, I learned how to communicate effectively with very diverse customers and address their needs quickly. This knowledge has emphasized the reputation of customer satisfaction and the role it plays in sustaining the success of any company. As an Eagle Scout, I had key values such as loyalty, integrity, respect, effective leadership, teamwork, and problem-solving skills instilled in me from my elementary years. These attributes have been instrumental in my academic, professional, and personal pursuits and will undoubtedly serve me well in the future.
