About Ryan Herbst

Dynamic Mechanical Engineer and Project Manager with a unique blend of technical expertise and project leadership, known for driving projects from concept to execution across design engineering, DFX, and advanced manufacturing. With a background in R&D, design, and additive manufacturing, I’ve consistently delivered high-quality, innovative solutions that exceed stakeholder expectations and align with production goals. In recent roles, I’ve managed complex projects in both engineering and manufacturing environments, developing efficient processes, optimizing production, and ensuring quality at scale. My experience spans working with cross-functional teams to solve intricate design and operational challenges, handling project timelines and budgets, and fostering collaboration to meet stringent performance standards. With a hands-on approach, I bring attention to detail and problem-solving skills to every stage of development—from initial concept and prototyping to full-scale production. I’m excited to bring this mix of engineering knowledge and project management acumen to contribute to cutting-edge product development and execution in a fast-paced environment.Working at Carbon as an Applications/Design Engineer, I gained experience working on a variety of projects, from concept development to production launch. Project success required constant ingenuity and creativity in order to drive success on a new and unproven manufacturing platform. This platform utilized highly advanced hardware, software, post-processes (washing, curing, baking, etc.) and materials. In order to successfully launch new applications as products (first of their kind), collaboration with many other teams was paramount. Including: Software, Materials, Mechanical Engineering, Print Development, Manufacturing and Business Development. One particularly notable project involved a customer who was looking for a product (a new product segment for Carbon) that required an advanced solution during the design phase. Working with the software team, I invented IP that would allow us to move forward with the customer. In the early production phase, various iterations were produced and points for improvement were identified and addressed (part function, defects, artifacts, production process, per part cost. etc.) until the customer was completely satisfied with the product.

Listed skills include Computer Proficiency, Mac And Pc Platforms, Solidworks, Autodesk, and 48 others.
