Led a team of 5 engineering students in the design of a front suspension and steering system for an off-road racecar that competed in the 2019 Baja SAE West competition. Researched vehicle handling characteristics and established system-wide design requirements with the goal of improving steering predictability while maintaining a 20 ft.-lb steering effort. Oversaw the development of suspension geometry in Lotus Shark and verified team members’ designs. Performed static FEA of front uprights and control arms for single-wheel landing and emergency braking scenarios while also lending FEA assistance to engineers of other subsystems. Sourced materials/hardware and coordinated the manufacturing of alignment jigs and other components. Held weekly team meetings and presented status reports to audiences of over 100 students, professors, and project advisors.

Designed and analyzed 2D models of the front suspension system for our team’s 2018 Baja SAE West competition vehicle. Quickly learned and utilized mechanical FEA to drive the design of the front uprights, resulting in a 13.6% weight reduction in comparison to the 2017 model. Supplemented all progress with detailed documentation on simulation processes and the interpretation of results. Manufacturing contributions included preparing AutoCAD drawings for waterjet-cut parts, creating a PVC chassis mock-up, machining suspension bushings, and assembling various other subsystems of the vehicle.

Performed a variety of repairs on bicycles of all types with an emphasis on informative service and timeliness. Assisted customers with selecting bicycles and recreational equipment based on their riding needs. Gained valuable experience in establishing customer trust, working with individuals from diverse backgrounds, and prioritizing tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Assisted in manufacturing a racecar that competed in the Formula SAE Lincoln competition of 2017. Contributions included profiling and preparing tubing for the chassis as well as jigging and MIG welding portions of the front bulkhead. Additionally fabricated mounts for various human interface components and completed the Frame/Body portion of the team’s cost report.

Assistant in providing PR and event planning services to companies in the outdoor recreation industry.Co-established ArtBike!, a neighborhood art walk that began with the lead up to the 2016 Philly Bike Expo. Drew in participants and attendees among local schools, city officials, and members of the Philadelphia bicycle community.Carried out a promotional campaign for the 24th annual Tour de Peninsula, which involved strategic outreach to over 40 advertising outlets and news organizations. Efforts yielded an 11.6% increase in site traffic within the first month. Conducted rider interviews during the event for a collaborative media release.
