I am working for Dr. Turco this summer. I perform DNA extractions to analyze soil bacteria, then I use PCR to amplify the DNA. I use gel electrophoresis then to ensure the DNA did amplify. Finally I run a DGGE analysis on the DNA and gather the data in a word document for Dr. Turco.

I am working in Dr. Boavida's laboratory this summer. Dr. Boavida is a new professor at Purdue and has only been here since January. This summer I am assisting Dr. Boavida with getting her laboratory set up and ready for research. I am the first employee in this laboratory and will learn useful information about how to set a lab up.
