I had various roles during my time at Scarab, they included: operating a Bystronic laser, powder coating, fork truck driving, stock control, and training people within powder coating.

I initially started as a Labourer keeping the workshop floor clean and tidy, assisting with deliveries, stock sorting and helping out where needed. I spent some time working in the lighting department, a company called MCL that Stewart Fraser’s purchased, where I helped assemble parts for light fittings, loading and unloading of parts for powder coating and securely packaging finished products for delivery. I then moved into the Door division when I was part of the team that assembled glass fire rated doors. I used a fabris saw to cut different lengths of bar, tube and plate. To assemble the doors we used different types of bonding adhesives such as mastic and screws. I also played an important role in stock take each year I was at Stewart Frasers.
