The Deputy Solicitor General assists with and supports the work of the Appellate Unit under the direction and supervision of the Solicitor General, including overseeing all appellate practice by the Attorney General's Office, drafting briefs and presenting argument at the Vermont Supreme Court and Second Circuit Court of Appeals, and joining or drafting amicus briefs in Federal Courts of Appeals and the U.S. Supreme Court on behalf of Vermont and other States.

Complete legal research and draft and edit decisions on land use and environmental matters, subject to judge's discretion. Observe pretrial conferences, site visits, and trials, and assist judge with related legal research.

Performed legal research and writing memoranda for VNRC General Counsel regarding several legal issues. Collected data from Vermont towns as part of a study in association with the Northeastern States Research Cooperative (NSRC) on the impact of subdivision regulations and zoning ordinances on subdivision trends and parcelization of large lots.
