I also reviewed the staff working patterns and with discussions with the staff managed to change some working hours to suit the busier times of the store. I also managed to increase sales by having a team meeting to simplify what the key factors are to make the store successful. Using these clear points as reminders to the staff increased focus and helped beat the budget for the whole first quarter, clearing the losses of June. Then reviewing the quarter we came up with a plan to maintain the positives and improves our service. Sharing this plan we managed to get a 100% score in our last mystery shop (November) and hit our bonus for the next quarter. Show less

This included cleaning the store fully, bringing a whole stores worth of stock into the store, merchandising the store from scratch, creating new store systems, communications set up (computers, tills etc) employing a new team. After the store opened we then managed to beat budget over the Christmas period, a large achievement due to no advertising promoting the re-open of the store. When I was cover manager we were in line with our takings made last year (even during this more difficult retail environment) and takings have improved over 15% on Easter 2007 period, without including reduced costs of store expenses. I have completed further management training at the Blacks outdoor store in Milton Keynes, exposing me to a store that in terms of sales figures is over 5 times what I was used to (a £3.5 million store). I’m was put in charge of the men’s sections of the store which is over half the store overall takings (£1.8 million), and the overall store on certain days of the week, including Saturday, the highest earning day of the week.
