Experience Volunteer Tutor: February 2018 – March 2018. I took part in a programme organised by the University of Limerick which encouraged UL Students to share their digital skills with an adult from the local community who would like to improve their digital skills.Order of Malta: The Order of Malta is a voluntary first aid organisation and I have been a member since I was 12 years old. At first, I attended the weekly meetings and learned a lot about first aid. As I got older I started helping the senior members to teach the younger members. This meant that I was regularly dealing with the younger members which was challenging at first as I wasn’t much older than these members and so they often ignored my instructions. Over time I got used to this position and the younger members started listening to what I had to say. The Order of Malta provides first aid cover for local events and I have helped with this a number of times. Finally, I have arranged talks and demonstrations in my school to outline the importance of first aid and to teach the students some basics of first aid. Volunteer Work: Recently I have done volunteer work through the University of Limerick. This voluntary work saw me, and a group of fellow students helping the elderly to use and understand modern technology. We worked on a one on one basis which allows us to really help the people who were present. This was very rewarding, and I learned a lot from the experience as well. QPR Training: I participated in suicide prevention training and by the end of it I received a certificate. The basis of this training was the QPR method, which stands for Question, Persuade and Refer. This training was interesting and while I hope I’ll never need it I feel like it was definitely worthwhile. Waiter for Hotel Minella: September 2022-October 2022: I picked up part-time work with Hotel Minella, which involved serving meals, cleaning, and other miscellaneous tasks. The work was rewarding but I had to leave in order to focus on the Masters programme that I was doing at the time.
