I am a current student at Colorado School of Mines where I have very much enjoyed my educational experience so far. I think School of Mines has provided lots of hands-on, project based opportunities that helped me acquire the skills that I have today. I have recently finished an internship with the Bureau of Reclamation in which I worked in the Materials and Corrosion Laboratory and Mechanical Structures group. In the former, I assisted with research and projects related to corrosion mitigation and service life extension of water infrastructure. In the latter, I learned about the design of water structures including gates, valves, turbines, and more! Currently, I am wrapping up the final semester of my graduate program at Colorado School of Mines and am open to hearing about employment opportunities.

The mechanical structures group is responsible for producing the final designs of water structures including gates, valves, stoplogs, fish screens, trash racks, and more. In addition, the team conducts inspections of structures to ensure they are properly maintained and able to serve their desired function. During my time in this group, I learned the basic design of many of the structures mentioned prior. I also took part in several site visits and inspections.

During my time in the Materials and Corrosion Laboratory, I was responsible for a variety of tasks including surface preparation and protective coating application of research panels, monitoring research experiments, surveying cathodic protection systems, and communicating my work and data through technical reports. All of this was in an effort to help Reclamation reliably provide water and hydroelectric power to the western United States.
Denver, Colorado, United States
During my internship at Denver Water, I was responsible for collecting data from the nearly 4,000 cathodic protection test stations in Denver and the surrounding areas. These systems play an important role in corrosion mitigation and extending the service life of pipelines, gates, and other water infrastructure. It is critical that these systems be monitored to ensure that adequate protection is being implemented. I also had the great opportunity of learning how to use equipment such as a holiday detector, pipe locator, exothermic welder, and much more. I am very grateful to have had this experience as my first internship.
