As one of the Planes Founders and directors, I oversee the delivery of all Planes' projects and lead our Product Management practice. You'll also catch me getting my hands dirty as a product management lead on projects from time to time.

Project management for procurement, testing and certification of aircraft systems spanning software, avionics, and mechanical systems. Busy solving technical, contractual, and project management related issues in coordination with external contractors and internal stakeholders. Key Duties:• Engineering Project Management - including engineering and technical management, management of user requirements, contract negotiations, and reporting from project initiation through to installation. • Certification Management - management of project requirements, and assessment of contractor compliance to enable project certification. • Relationship Management – develop and maintain constructive relationships with RNZAF internal stakeholders and external suppliers. • Proposing solutions to technical issues that arise and completing reports to support the proposals.• Logistics support planning for new equipment.• Risk analysis and hazard management.• Supporting the introduction into service of new aircraft equipment including configuration management and publications amendments.

No. 5 Squadron is the RNZAF’s maritime patrol squadron, operating and maintaining six P-3K2 Orion aircraft. As the Maintenance Engineering Officer, I provided engineering authority and oversight for maintenance activities in order to meet aircraft serviceability and availability requirements, as well as leadership and management of the Squadron’s technicians. This role was carried out domestically and on international deployments. Key Duties:• Assessment and approval of engineering change. • Providing guidance and direction for team. Setting priorities and ensuring targets are met.• Direct responsibility and accountability for all planned, reactive and major maintenance conducted. • Leadership of 70 Squadron maintenance personnel including performance reporting, team engagement and general Squadron communications. • Performance Management – undertaking performance appraisals, leading and mentoring.• Delivering operational briefs to teams and executives. • Responsible for authorising Squadron maintenance personnel in specific maintenance activities.• Direct responsibility for deployed maintenance teams and deployed aircraft.• Stakeholder management of external units to ensure a smooth integration of their service with ongoing operational maintenance activities.
