I’m seeking a Data Scientist, Applied Science or Research Scientist role at companies in the healthcare, technology, or air transportation spaces specifically because each of these sectors stands to see major changes with emergence and implementation of AI. I am the ideal candidate for these positions because I possess a diverse technical expertise including: programming-fluency, statistics, machine learning, data analysis, simulation analysis, data visualization & communication, creativity, and cross-functional collaboration. The past 6 years I have been the primary project manager coordinating ongoing research efforts in fulfillment of the FAA and USDA's 10 million dollar research contract with Purdue University to reduce bird aircraft collisions. In addition to my diverse technical skill set, I have gained experience with technical communication by consistently developing documents communicating key results of complex analysis amongst 6 different agencies in the form of quarterly reports, maintaining a high standard of research reproducibility making all data & code easily accessible across 3 different platforms: GitHub, Open Science Foundation, and in Peer Reviewed Journals, and publishing our findings in peer reviewed journals. In addition, I have the following qualifications: Strongly driven to succeed with the ability to exceed expectations having created a model to predict the distance an animal could resolve a light source resulting in the Department of Defense awarding over $1,472,162.02.Strategic and creative visionary having built a simulation based algorithm to estimate collision risk between birds and aircraft and was able to quantify that specific aircraft lighting could reduce collision risk by up to 11% percent and annually save the airline industry $624,610 and improve passenger safety.Extensive mentorship experience leading and mentoring undergraduate students and peers on best research practices resulting in being awarded a $5,000 fellowship from the university.
