Manage 3 engineering teams at Super:-Core Services: Responsible for recommendations and booking engines as well as internal tools-Frontend: Responsible for Super's UX and UI implementation-Growth: Full-stack engineering team that supports business growth initiativesIn total, 7 direct reports and 2 indirect reports. In addition to managing the development cycle (standups, sprint planning, retrospectives) of these teams and the professional growth of each team member (1:1s, evals), I have:-Authored and led the implementation of several cross-team engineering designs including a loyalty credits system and user authentication system-Developed an engineering performance evaluation framework to enable formal reviews and well-defined structure for professional growth. This led to the first round of comprehensive evaluations at SnapTravel in March 2019.-Successfully made the case to adopt Google Protocol Buffers. Implemented the tooling and structure to support adopting protos, defined and made use of the first protos at Super, and educated peers on how to use them effectively. They are now the standard at Super for new backend APIs. I also successfully made the case to use Postman to document existing APIs to increase frontend developer productivity.-Made several devops improvements including rearchitecting our use of docker for local development to improve developer productivity, and integrating cross-language linting and code formatting into our repositories.-Run cross-engineering team lead meetings to have high-level discussions about the engineering direction of the company-Member of Super Management Team, where I play an active role in helping shape cross-company OKRs (quarterly objectives and key results). Site reliability engineering on Google App Engine• Led Q2 2018 project planning for a team focus area (6 engineers in San Francisco and London). Also led biweekly sync meetings, provided engineering direction and review on projects, and mentored new team members (weekly 1:1s, created and presented 6.5 hours of training material, designed starter projects and path to oncall)• Completed a comprehensive technical audit (>40 pages) of Google App Engine configuration flow, including an analysis of the system’s response to increased config delivery latency, decreased availability, and semantic/syntactic invalidity. Developed >30 action items to improve system resilience. The doc was used as a primary source for an org-level effort to implement config reliability improvements (impacted ~8 engineers, ~6 months)• Initiated and technical lead for a two-engineer effort to replace a Release Manager rotation with automated enforcement and new release policies. Resulted in ~1.5 additional project weeks per team member per quarter• Co-created a cross-functional release management working group to improve binary release process. Led development of a roadmap, and created, reviewed and implemented proposals. Led to an efficient restructuring of rollout ownership• Production oncall for Google App Engine, which is a highly complex, global scale cloud hosting product. Selected as SRE representative demo at App Engine Summit (presented to 150+)• Co-designed client-server flows and data structures for a major Google Play Movies overhaul. Technical lead for the backend implementation. Launch was a major press event• Designed, implemented, and launched using a neural network machine learning model improve TV Show recommendations. Software engineering on Google Play Movies Search & Discovery• Designed, implemented, and owned a new core business logic backend service for search and recommendations. Onboarded 4 engineers onto the service• Developed and launched a Play Movies user onboarding flow that provided much better recommendations to new users• Established continuous search evaluation, which yielded actionable insights for search quality improvements

• Developed an Android and iOS smartphone application that enabled users to send MMS and Facebook messages containing a contextual line (selected from a dynamic database) superimposed on a selfie with customizable icons• Created a highly featured social network (user-contributed messages, comments, likes, followers, interaction with 3rd party APIs) using a MongoDB database. Design considerations included scalability (schema design, client loading algorithms), security (access control lists), stability (network errors, dynamic configuration), and user interface • Successfully evolved from ideation to startup. >1k messages were sent by users within eleven days of launching. Gained leadership experience by assembling and guiding a marketing team

• Developed the software (C++, Matlab) and hardware for a nonlinear, multiple feedback loop position tracking control system for an active surgical needle sheath• Gained experience linearizing inherently nonlinear control systems (gain-scheduled controller), designing PI and PID controllers (LQR approach), and implementing and evaluating the system (step, ramp, impulse, steady-state responses) • Built a current source electrical circuit (op-amps, transistors) to drive the sheath actuator based on voltage input from a computer parallel port (PWM). Designed the sheath, including integration with the circuit and actuator, in SolidWorks.• Produced a 32 page research report
