Deputy Supported Housing Manager
CurrentMy current role involves managing the day-to-day operations at the Worthing Foyer – a Medium/Low support foyer for young people who are homeless between the ages of 16-25. My responsibilities include:1. Line Management – I am the line-manager for six members of staff (four Supported Housing Support Workers, and two Night Support Workers), providing frequent supervision sessions, offering guidance and support managing their caseloads, encouraging professional development and growth, providing constructive criticism and feedback, and offering motivational and emotional support. 2. Safeguarding – Providing managerial oversight on all internal safeguarding reports generated by the support team, whilst also discussing concerns with YMCA DLG’s internal safeguarding team, WSCC and our support team.3. Void/Room Management – Ensuring void inspections are completed with diligence and in a timely manner, before being sent to the asset management team for remedial works. I also instigate the referral process by communicating and interviewing the referrals, procuring and collating the necessary information to enable myself and the Service Manager to make an informed decision regarding their viability to be offered a room at the foyer. 4. Recruitment – Alongside the Service Manager, I oversee the recruitment processes for Bank Support Workers and Support Workers.5. Project Development – I am responsible for identifying and implementing potential opportunities for the improvement of the foyer, such as establishing partnerships with external partners such as the Worthing Foodbank and implementing activities programmes to improve young persons engagement with the programme. 6. Culture – Setting the culture within the Foyer, ensuring the Support Workers operate with a trauma informed approach.7. Compliance – Alongside the Service Manager, I ensure that all necessary safety protocols are followed, and report health and safety concerns and to the Asset Management team.
