Through completing my professional placement year with Swinburne’s Centre for Design Innovation, I have taken charge of all written communications for the CDI, managing their CMS (efront) website with regular uploads of news stories, researcher profiles and project reports. I have also assisted in organizing the DATTA research conference, which saw design academics from around the world descend upon Swinburne University for a 4-day conference.In addition, I was responsible for all written and visual content included in the CDI’s Biennial Report for 2018, an 84-page document which was distributed to over 1000 academics and shareholders from around the world. Such a role heavily assisted me in refining my journalistic skills, interviewing and then condensing the work of researchers into an accessible format for a wider readership.A number of minor roles also saw me responsible for deep research and academic citation for a range of future academic papers within the CDI, while I also wrote and researched public interest stories for Swinburne’s ‘Knowing’ blog.
