Ryan has experience in steel plate girders, pre-stressed concrete girders, Cast-In-Place (CIP) flat slab and post-tensioned concrete box girders. He is proficient in complex finite element modeling including 3-D techniques for curved structures and time-dependent staged modeling. Ryan has been involved in large-scale design-build and public private partnership (PPP) projects. He has led and conducted structural safety/failure analysis and investigations. He has held multiple responsibilities for engineering, project management, and business development functions. His skills and talents are diverse. His education and experience are diverse as well. In addition to his structural design, he has experience in building envelope research. The primary focus of his research was the full scale effects of dynamic wind loads and wind-borne debris on various structural systems, components and cladding, and building products. He is responsible for new research methods to characterize wind-induced water penetration of glass and glazing systems as well as residential soffit systems. He also invented, designed, and constructed an unprecedented new high airflow pressure loading actuator system to replicate the temporal wind-induced pressures on porous surfaces. His research has been used in implementing improvements to current building codes, standards, products and construction methods to reduce structural damage. His research and experience have provided him with an excellent grasp of all areas of the structural engineering practice.
