A multidisciplinary team opportunity that stretched me in exciting ways. I was part of a team of 7 students that took MSOE to the SAE Formula Hybrid competition in 2011. The size of our team required everyone to be flexible to assist on nearly any portion of the project as needed and yet responsible to independently manage the sub-systems that they were tasked to complete. The results were 1st first in the electric class at the national competition in Laudin NH, 2nd place for the "GM Best Designed Hybrid System", and 1st place in the electrical class at the Indy 500 100th Anniversary celebration event.

I worked to develop a signal generation platform to assist researchers in the development of smart antenna systems. This platform is capable of generating a wide variety of modulation and signal types based on user parameters. Some examples are: AM, FM, BPSK, 4-QAM, 16-QAM, 64-QAM, and 256-QAM. The QAM based modulations also can be formed into a full OFDM signal or a OFDM signal with highlighted tones with the option of error encoding.Through this work I learned about cellular systems and communication protocols as they could be related to improving data throughput by using the spatial multiplexing made possible by smart antennas.

I designed and tested embedded features for both AC and battery powered tools. This experience involved modeling and designing control schemes for a range of features, programming in C through multiple iterations to optimize both size and operation, as well as circuit analysis and PCB design.
