Building engines for a wide range of applications across different forms of motorsport, from brand new Judd V8’s and V10’s to historic racing engines from different manufacturers; applications such as old f1, endurance, hill climb, touring cars and rally engines.

Building complete hydraulic systems for the Aston Martin Valkyrie, closely inspired by the hydraulics used on the Red Bull F1 car. This role included building a low volume highly complex hydro-electric system in a clean room environment. Building a variety of hydraulic manifolds and assemblies such as pumps, accumulators, actuators, master cylinders and Moog assemblies. I started the project during its initial testing phase and continued with it through to production, being involved in the build,test and sign off of the hydraulic system.

For the first 2 years I ran the Sub-assembly department building cylinder heads, scavenger and pressure oil pumps, throttles assemblies and rebuilding and calibrating fuel rails. After finishing my NVQ I moved onto full engine build which was building V8 and V12 Aston Martin Racing engines for the works and customer teams competing in series such as WEC and British GT. All builds were subject to strict FIA homologation which requires a keen eye for detail and precision. Other tasks I undertook during this role included installing engines onto dynos, engine strip down inspection, part life checking, crack testing and fault finding.
