The same period has seen SMART Recovery groups increase from under 100 groups to 352 groups, including 14 groups in New Zealand and six online weekly meetings (pre-COVID). During 2020-2021 transitioned to over 200 groups online.• Was the main driver that led the process that established and registration of SMART Recovery International (SRI) to provide worldwide oversight and support to SMART operations in all member countries and to foster the development of operations in new locations to grow SMART. • During COVID-19, a cold proposal to the Australian government resulted in a grant for half a million dollars for the purpose of transitioning SMART groups online. Further funding was committed in the Federal Budget 2022-2023. • Led the creation SRAU’s first strategic plan, restructured the Board, built the staff team, and oversaw the significant growth of SMART groups in each state and territory in Australia, and established SMART Recovery in New Zealand and online.
