This asset consists of several heavy oil and gas condensate wells, as well as the Rimu Production Station, a small to medium gas processing facility. As the sole onsite Production Engineer, I primarily coordinate the internal Management of Change system. Graduate Drilling Engineer
Employed as a Graduate Engineer for Greymouth Petroleum, I was given the opportunity to work in a number of different roles across the business. In total I completed 3 placements over 2 years, these placements included Facilities Engineering, Reservoir Engineering and Drilling/Completions Engineering. A summary of my roles are as follows. Most recent placement was with Drilling and Completions team. Here I was placed on an active triple rig and took part in various drilling activities, running of casing, cementing and completions operations. I was also required to ensure integrity of all wells owned by Greymouth Petroleum, and worked with the drilling team by assisting with the well design process.• Worked on an active drilling rig, in several different roles.o Filled in as a Roughneck during tripping in/out of hole.o Assisted Derrickman with drilling mud tests and added chemicals as per instructions from Mud Doctor.o Filled in as sample catcher as required, and assisted Mud Logger where possible.o Carried out cementing calculations and cross checked for cementing jobs. • Monitoring and evaluation of well integrity for all Greymouth wells.o Identification of testing regime required.o Became familiar with Well Integrity Legislation and Well Double Barrier industry standards.o Hydro pressure test wellhead valves and replaced valves as required. o Submit documentation to well examiner for certification.• Assisted drilling team with new well and casing program design, this included torque and drag modelling.
Graduate Reservoir Engineer
The Reservoir Engineering department was my second placement, I was initially sent into the field to work with operations before returning to the office to work closely under another experienced Reservoir Engineer.• Worked with operators in the field, this involved daily rounds/taking readings, operating Gemoco wax cutters, flowing wells, opening/closing valves, receiving pipeline pigs and various other tasks.• Interpretation of data sets (e.g. PVT, Well Tests, Wireline, PLT etc.) and translation to well schematic diagrams.• Placed under experienced Reservoir Engineer (in main office), assisted with reservoir studies and validated results from different software simulations.o Conducted Pressure Transient Analysis (PTA) on historical well SITHP build up data (Saphir).o Conducted Rate Transient Analysis (RTA) on historical well production data (Harmony).o Modelling of PVT properties of hydrocarbon fluids based on lab testing (PVTp).o Carry out well nodal analysis and vertical lift performance for existing wells (PROSPER).o Oil in place and drive mechanics determination for particular reservoirs (MBal).
Graduate Facilities Engineer
The Facilities Engineering role was the first placement I did, this role was predominately team based and involved working on various surface projects across the Greymouth Petroleum assets.• Team based facilities project work, as well as managing smaller (MOC/Plant Change Request) projects over the entire project lifecycle including execution and closeout.• Investigated and troubleshooted “solids build up” issues within the glycol (MEG) regeneration system (common industry problem) at the Kaimiro Production Station, acted on the findings of this investigation to mitigate process upsets.• Became proficient with several different software applications including the Microsoft Office suite (including Word, Excel and Project) and the VMGsim process simulator (both statics and dynamics).
