For nearly six years, I lead IMT's work on building energy codes. This involved technical assistance to local jurisdictions on how to improve their energy code compliance rates as well as national model code development. My energy code development work focused on proposals that would improve the clarity of the code, provide improved performance compliance paths and improve the provisions of the code for renovations.

I was responsible for consulting on technical matters for the Sustainable Design and Fossil Fuel Generated Energy Consumption rule makings for Federal buildings, including the areas of renewable energy, indoor environmental quality, energy efficiency, recycling, material reuse, water efficiency and the technical requirements of various reference standards and green building rating systems. I also managed the Energy Efficiency Standards for Manufactured Housing rule making, including reviewing and editing documents, conducting research and analysis, briefing management and keeping the project on schedule and budget. I coordinated with DOE's National Labs, General Counsel and other Federal agencies to address concerns and keep projects moving forward. I prepared presentations for executive management briefings and provided guidance on energy code and green building code development.

I worked on the implementation of the Georgia State Minimum Standard Codes for construction including conducting task forces for the review of proposed new code editions and proposed amendments to current codes. I also provided technical assistance to members of the construction industry for all 10 state minimum standard codes. I coordinated a task force to review the 2009 International Energy Conservation Code and ASHRAE 90.1-2007 for adoption in Georgia. I was also responsible for researching new building products and providing opinions on whether or not they complied with Georgia's Construction Codes. I also evaluated pending state legislation and drafted reviews on how the legislation would impact the Department and the construction industry in Georgia.

Consulted with new home builders throughout NE Atlanta; guiding them through the process of building energy efficient homes using EarthCraft House and Energy Star standards. I conducted blower door and duct leakage testing, as well as insulation and air sealing inspections.
