The main function of a consulting teacher shall be to provide support and assistance to teachers who are new to the profession. A Consulting Teacher Will:• Engage in formative assessment processes, including non-evaluative, reflective conversations about formative assessment evidence with participating teachers;• Share instructional ideas and materials with participating teachers;• Deepen understanding of cultural, ethnic, cognitive, linguistic, and gender diversity;• Use effective interpersonal and communication skills;• Work with PTs by actively participating in weekly meetings and maintaining an activity log of meetings;• Attend specified events;• Help teachers create and implement instructional goals for their classroom;• Observe and assist teachers in using evidence to guide classroom instruction;• Maintain and submit program-required paperwork;• Use knowledge of beginning teacher development, state-adopted academic content standards and performance levels for students, state-adopted curriculum frameworks, and California Standards for the Teaching Profession in providing effective teacher support.• Demonstrate a commitment to personal professional growth and learning and an ability and willingness to be an excellent professional role model.
