The product line that I worked on was the MD8/16, a chassis+blades based clustered cpu+fpga product which ingested mpeg-ts streams via tuner/cable modem/IP multicast, transformed the streams via de/re-encryption and/or transcoding, remuxed the streams, and then re-broadcast new mpeg-ts networks out IP/HLS+Dash streaming/QAM/NTSC based on user configuration via a highly configurable web UI. As a senior software engineer working on the MD8/16 family of products I was responsible for or exposed to a wide range of topics including:* Transforming product requirements into designs and tasking* Embedded Yocto Linux userspace and kernel development* MPEG, DVB, ATSC broadcast standards and HLS, Dash streaming standards.* Hardware integration such as FPGA, Tuner/demod, dCSS, Cell Modem* Networking, switch management, ip unicast and multicast routing, vlan routing* Field support, fixing field issues, and software maintenance* Cryptography and secure boot* Multiprocessor cluster design using RPC and eventing* C++14 with C for RTOS and kernel applications* GIT version control, Atlassian products for tasking and continuous integration

As a software engineer my primary role was doing low level, high performance programming dealing with RF waveforms and infrastructure. I gained experience with the software engineering process, c++, working with small to large teams, maintenance programming, new development programming, testing, interfacing with customers, and being the lead programmer of a project from start to finish.Also gained experience in: mpeg2 video transport stream processing, Layer 2-4 networking development under linux, software simulation of a hardware target, VXWorks, and using Atlassian tools and the Agile software development.
