Senior Mechanical EngineerMagnetek Apr 2011 - Apr 2020Menomonee Falls, Wi, UsAt Magnetek, I started my career at Magnetek working in the Renewable Energy business unit where I developed new blower and power inverter module designs for utility-scale wind and solar power equipment in the Megawatt range. After a couple of years, the Renewable Energy business was dissolved and I moved into the Elevator and Mining group where I designed enclosures, cooling solutions, and power component assemblies for our Elevator customers such as Otis, Schindler, Thyssenkrupp, KONE. On the Mining side of business, I worked on a system controller handling dozens of channels of I/O and datalogging for electronic and hydraulic systems on ore-hauling equipment for Komatsu. -
Senior Mechanical EngineerAdvanced Design Concepts, Inc. Dec 2010 - Apr 2011Pewaukee, Wi, UsDuring my time with ADC, I worked for GE Healthcare Systems in their CT Systems group on a new CT scanner that had, at the time, the largest bore size of any machine in the market. The goal was to make a machine that could handle patients of a larger physical size as well as helping with claustrophobia by making it a larger with better outward visibility while the scan is taking place. My job was to design covers, lighting features, and the supporting structural framework to mount the covers to the underlying machinery. I worked with GE's Industrial Designers and their supplier network to transform artist renderings into manufacturable parts. Work included designing thermoformed plastic covers, welded plastic sheeting, and welded steel tubing. -
Mechanical Design EngineerCore Consulting, Llc May 2008 - Nov 2010Thiensville, Wisconsin, UsI contracted with Core for a couple of years at EMTEQ (now Collins Aerospace) and P&H Mining Equipment (now Komatsu). At EMTEQ, I primarily was designing interior LED lighting products for the Gulfstream G650 corporate jet. This involved working with a combination of artist renderings and lighting specifications provided by Gulfstream that we needed to achieve. We had a small team of approximately 8 electrical and mechanical engineers working together. For my contribution on the team, I designed a spherical overhead reading light, aisle dome lights, underseat floor lights, and a couple different exit lights. At P&H, I reported to the Shovels group and was responsible for reviewing non-conforming parts and material substitution requests originating from manufacturing facilities in Milwaukee, Australia, China, and India. After reviewing those non-conforming parts, I was responsible to determination of disposition on them. In other words, scrap, repair, or re-machine them to make them into a different part. I worked very closely with both Engineering and Manufacturing staff domestically and internationally on these parts. -
