In my current role, I am extremely fortunate to lead a team of instructional designers and training specialists dedicated to supporting our amazing educators in LEUSD. We design and deliver training initiatives that align with district goals and individual growth objectives, collaborating with department heads and site principals to identify training needs, assess skill gaps, and devise targeted learning solutions. By developing and managing an annual training budget, our team ensures the cost-effective utilization of resources. We utilize learning management systems to create and distribute e-learning modules, assessments, and course materials, conducting regular evaluations to measure the effectiveness of our programs and making improvements based on feedback. Additionally, we oversee the implementation of mentoring programs, fostering a culture of continuous learning and providing coaching and guidance to employees to facilitate their professional growth and advancement.

In my role of Director of Instructional Technology & Alternative Programs, it combined two passions that I've pursued throughout my career. With roots in providing equitable outcomes, I see technology as a way to efficiently understand our students through data aggregation and engaging learning experiences, all in the environment that prepares our students for their respective futures. In the alternative education realm, new educational strategies can, and must be explored, while the focus remains on the individual students that might not thrive in traditional settings.

During my time as Director of Instructional Technology, I’ve worked to create and maintain a cohesive and accessible professional development system that leveraged many types of learning for our teachers, including all day training, after school professional development, Micro-credentials with teacher compensation, collaboration time, and Saturday sessions. This focus on personalized learning for adults is also expressed in my work with our district-wide blended learning program, alternative programs and intervention data analysis and support.

My experience as an alternative education principal involved combining our district’s dependent online charter school with an existing independent study program in our district to ensure rigor and efficiency in intervention delivery, creating our charter’s LCAP plan, and streamlining data aggregation for identifying students at risk in grades TK-12.

After my time as the district’s technology teacher on special assignment, I was asked to join the administration team at Lake Elsinore Unified School District with a role focused on supporting technology and it’s implementation in classrooms, especially as our district increased mobile device deployment with iPads and teacher Macs or PCs.

Originally brought on board to ease the transition to a digital student information system for a district of over 1,100 educators, I quickly sought to also increase the use of technology to create student products that demonstrated mastery in various ways.

Rice Canyon Elementary

With a focus on literacy, my time at Rice Canyon Elementary sought to provide literacy to all students. I was given crucial site roles such as leading their after-school tutoring sessions, creating a school website that shared resources for all grades, and automating data aggregation tasks to make more time for conversations with parents about their students progress. I was also extremely humbled by being voted Site Teacher Of The Year by my colleagues.
