Two things in previous life experiences led me to where I am are realizing 1) a passion for teaching, coaching & mentoring, and 2) the joy of guiding students' development for what was ahead of them. A word I learned about while at a conference a few years ago that got the initial gears spinning sums these up: generativity - defined as cultivating younger people to contribute to the next generation. This idea would become what got me to interested in pursuing talent development, management and succession in my doctoral studies and academic career. Some of my other organizational behavior and human resource interests include mentoring, leadership, turnover, organizational identification, star performers, trust and compassion. As I developed at Purdue, I found my passion was agriculture and people. My previous role included both passions working with students going into the Ag industry after school. I got to help students develop and achieve academic, career and leadership goals as they prepare to make a difference in their future community, country and world.I grew up heavily involved in sports, community events, and the family trade – farming. At the time I started to get involved, the farm evolved from 1500 acre conventional row-crop, 300 sow farrow-finish, 4 owner-manager farm to 2500 acre no-till, 100 cow-calf, 1 owner-manager farm to over 4000 acre strip-till & cover crop, 4000 custom fed market hogs, father/son managed business selling seed, chemical and custom application. I went to Purdue seeking my bachelors in Agricultural Systems Management in the fall of `08. I graduated spring of `15 with a Masters in Agriculture Economics. Along my journey at Purdue I picked up educational experiences in Agronomy, Education, leadership, Entrepreneurship and study abroad; I had active involvement with FarmHouse Fraternity, student leadership organizations, service projects, Purdue Athletics, Student Success, Recreational Sports, high school sports, Indiana State Fair and Clear River Church. Work experiences I had during college outside of the family business included small business with a local land improvement contractor, corporate with John Deere and an entrepreneurial venture. myStrenths: Arranger | Activator | Includer | Maximizer | WOO
