As a member of the Space Suit and Softgoods department my role consists of:• Rapid prototyping designs for exploratory extravehicular activity (xEVA) units, intravehicular activity (IVA) units, and pressure garment systems using techniques from 3D printing to DFM. Including work on NASA’s Artemis mission creating components for the xEVA suit and life support systems. • Acting as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for SBIRs writing proposals, Phase I, and Phase II reports to NASA.• Designing complex assemblies using SolidWorks and building out BOMs for hard and soft good materials.• Creating detailed part and assembly drawings with GD&T by implementing SolidWorks, PDM, and Adobe Illustrator• Validating designs through FEA and physical testing of components and mechanical systems.• Conducting trade studies for material, cost-benefit analysis, risk analysis, design optimization, and feasibility throughout initial design phases.• Collaborating and supporting Analysis and Testing group to design and assemble test setups and procedures. Including life cycle, reliability, stress, compatibility, performance, and safety testing.• Proficient in utilizing MIL-SPEC standards and specifications.• Assisting in compliance with AS9100 and ISO 90001 Quality Assurance Standards. Creating and maintaining the department quality management system. Using a part management system (PDM), technical document creation and implementation, non-conforming parts (NCPs), and corrective actions (CA).• Performing vendor management tasks such as adding and maintaining vendors on the approved supplier list, verifying certifications, and obtaining quotes and lead times for efficient procurement processes.

Final Frontier Design was acquired by Paragon in March 2022. • Responsible for overseeing critical designs and managing engineering personnel to meet contract requirements and adhere to schedules.• Managed vendors, obtained quotes, and processed purchase orders to ensure timely procurement of necessary materials and components.• Implemented and managed the quality system to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.• Strategically secured AS9100 certification, effectively positioning the company to secure lucrative contracts in the aerospace industry.• Played a key role in the acquisition of Final Frontier Design by Paragon in March 2022, facilitating a smooth transition and integration of processes and operations.

As a member of the R&D department, my role was to provide design support to the R&D Group within II-VI Incorporated for materials, process and product development, and product prototyping. My responsibilities involved designing and modifying products, designing process equipment such as molds and fixtures, and creating detailed drawings and specifications, utilizing CAD, CAM, and FEA software. My position also included conducting hands-on materials processing and operating CNC machining equipment. Throughout my work, I applied scientific and engineering principles to develop new materials and products in line with the roadmap and growth strategy of the company. I also collaborated with others within the R&D group, within II-VI, and with customers and vendors.
