I graduated from Gustavus in 2023 with a BA in biology. Throughout my education, I focused on wildlife biology and ecology through my course work and independent projects. I served as a TA for Evolution, Ecology, and Behavior courses for two years and aided students as they developed their own research projects and went through the lab material. Since graduating, I have been working as a wilderness guide for YMCA Camp Menogyn, a non-profit camp for young adults that specializes in extended back-country expeditions for periods of 5 to 36 days. This past summer, I was chosen to co-lead their Arctic Canoe trip - a 36 day canoe trip on one of Canada's most remote wild rivers, the Thelon. Together with my co-lead, I led 5 young adults through the arctic tundra and challenging river conditions.I have a strong interest in working with Natural Resources, specifically urban ecology and the intersection of humans, cities, and wildlife. My technical skills developed at Gustavus as well as my field skills developed through wilderness guiding provide a unique combination of classic lab skills and the ability to work in virtually any condition.
