Responsible for all engineering functions at both RSB Transmissions NA, Inc. and RSB Transmissions Mexico•Oversee implementation of new product launches:•Lead product launch group to determine best process for manufacturing of new products.•Develop capital acquisition plan to meet production requirements and submit said plan to board of directors for approval.• Review, recommend and procure work holding, perishable tooling, gauging, automation, etc. required for a successful launch of new products.•Manage product launch group from set-up of equipment through PPAP submission to customer and on to start of production.•Ensure that all expenditures for capital, tooling, & gauging remain within the quoted and approved budgets.•Lead a team of 4 Manufacturing Engineers in the following areas:•Continuous improvement activities for existing product lines•Responding to both internal and customer quality complaints and implementing permanent corrective actions to prevent recurrence of issue.•Work in a team environment with the Production and Quality departments to maximize efficiency and minimize defects.•Consult with new business development team in developing quotations for potential new business including:•Review part prints submitted for quotation and recommend optimal process sequence.•Estimate all capital equipment and variable costs for each customer RFQ. Variable costs include: labor, power consumption, perishable tooling, coolant & oils, and machine maintenance.•Estimate tooling and gauging requirements for the recommended processes and assign costs for quotation purposes.•Review and approve or deny engineering related purchase requisitions using cost versus benefit analysis.•Act as lead contact with customers for all engineering related concerns and/or questions

Responsible for new and existing machining processes including:•Design and development of machining processes for new products requiring:•Developing process flow.•Design and development of all required tooling (machinery, work-holding, gauging, and perishable tooling).•Design, development, and integration of automation when applicable.•Design, development, and integration of error proofing. •Collect, assemble, and submit data for PPAP•Create and maintain documentation; such as, PFMEA, Control Plans, Process Sheets, Standard Operation Work Instructions, Machine Set-up Instructions, and Preventative Maintenance Instructions.•Continuous improvement of existing manufacturing processes through reductions in cycle time, machine/process related scrap, and reduction in non-value added work.
