Ryan is a partner in Morris Laing's Wichita office. He represents employers in all aspects of employment relations. Ryan has experience representing employers in federal and state courts, including individual and class action suits, and in administrative proceedings. He has handled cases involving claims of age, disability, race, and sex discrimination, in addition to sexual harassment, retaliatory discharge, wage and hour, unemployment benefits, ERISA, OSHA, employment tax issues, and trade secret and non-compete issues.Ryan has experience working with employers on preventive litigation practices, including employee handbooks, job descriptions, employment contracts and severance agreements, workplace policies, trade secret protection, and immigration and OSHA compliance. He also advises employers on matters of employee discipline, employee leave, labor-management relations, plant closings and reductions in force, and other workplace matters. Ryan provides on-site employee training and conducts workplace investigations.Every year since 2009, Ryan has been recognized by Missouri and Kansas Super Lawyers as a Rising Star in the area of employment law, a distinction given to no more than 2.5% of Missouri/Kansas attorneys under the age of 40. He is "AV" rated by Martindale-Hubbell, its highest rating, and was selected for exclusive membership in the Litigation Counsel of America. Ryan has co-authored the labor and employment law chapter to the Kansas Bar Associations' Kansas Annual Survey every year since 2005, and he frequently writes and speaks on employment-related topics.
