Ryan Peoples is a 6-year Navy Veteran as a Nuclear Mechanic. Ryan was a part of the very demanding Naval Nuclear Power Program in the United States Navy. By being selected, Ryan was in the top 10% of all scores in the Military ASVAB. Even after getting selected, Ryan completed the 1 1/4-year training program that has an extremely high attrition rate of over 80% that includes 9 months of school house training in Nuclear Theory, Physics, Calculus, Chemistry, Thermodynamics, and Heat Transfer and Fluid Flow and an additional 6 months of on hand training in a nuclear-powered submarine. At his duty station aboard the USS Abraham Lincoln CVN 72, Ryan Peoples was recognized as a very competent worker and was often called upon to perform complex procedures and train newer sailors. While the USS Abraham Lincoln was going through its 25-year half-life refueling and maintenance, which takes a total of approximately 4 years, Ryan Peoples was a Senior Reactor Mechanic that was often used to operate and oversee equipment being first tested when steam was reintroduced into the Steam Plant. Ryan Peoples wrote several procedures to help equipment run correctly while out of normal operating circumstances considering the physical layout of the system, what systems are currently operating, and how the state of the equipment could affect the operation of the system. In his last year aboard the USS Abraham Lincoln, Ryan Peoples was trusted to train new sailors in safe operation of mechanical equipment and emergency procedures that are critical to safe Nuclear Power operations. During the Refueling Complex Overhaul (RCOH), Ryan Peoples was the leading mechanic that helped his Crew during shiftwork to maintain overhaul timelines and worked directly with shipyard leadership to ensure safe operation of equipment while testing was underway.Ryan is seeking to use this experience with nuclear technologies, radiation, mechanics, and system power as a Mechanical Technician.
