As a recent summa cum laude graduate in economics from Kent State University with emerging research and analytical skills, a flair for Tableau visualizations, and a drive for seeking out innovative and efficiency-minded solutions, I look forward to making significant contributions to the finance and economics fields. One of my first jobs as a teenager was teaching badge curriculum at a scout camp. Each week I would get a new crop of children barely younger than I was and teach them the ins and outs of Morse code, chess, sign language, and more. I seldom knew ahead of time if I would have one student or 40, and this job taught me both the challenge and the value of establishing good relationships and thinking on my feet. I also took pleasure in modernizing and digitizing the badge recordkeeping for the camp to move them into the computer age. During college, I chose to work retail jobs, and in these roles my commitment to collaborating with colleagues and seeing tasks through from start to finish were key to my success. While I was at Dollar General, a car accident brought a vehicle through the front window of the store, and my team and I cleaned, sorted, and redisplayed a significant volume of stock quickly and efficiently so that the store could re-open asap.My most recent job is one I stumbled into during Covid. One of the few activities open to students in 2020 was the broadcast studio at the school of media and journalism. I began as a volunteer, but in my final year was a paid “Showrunner.” I coordinated a team of up to 30 fellow students, making sure people were producing the right kind and amount of content for each week’s show. I was an integral member of a team that produced over two dozen, 45-minute weekly broadcasts. It was stressful, deadline-driven work and I loved it.Also during college, I was awarded the Economics Department scholarship for my adoption of keyboarding solutions for classes like econometrics and calculus, both traditionally dependent on handwritten graphs, symbols, and notations. I was also thrilled to attend the Circular Economy Hotspot in Dublin in 2023, where I got to join a bevy of like-minded people who came together to discuss environmental sustainability through the lens of economics.I am actively seeking employment opportunities to explore the worlds of finance and economics; I particularly enjoy working with statistics to illuminate cause and effect and then using that data to make better decisions. I’m always happy to connect – feel free to message me.
