Director Of Mechanical Engineering
East Lansing, Michigan, United States
In my 3 years on the Michigan State Solar Racing Team I have filled many roles and gained many skills. The biggest role that I played in my time on the team was as the Mechanical Director of the team. As the Mechanical Director I was in charge of overseeing all of the mechanical projects on the team, making purchases for materials and supplies the team needed, and keeping the mechanical projects on schedule to complete and test the car before we compete in the summer of 2024. Being the Mechanical Director allowed me to develop many engineering skills, and it also allowed me to develop many general business skills. I had to send many emails and make a lot of phone calls to sponsors, suppliers, and industry professionals which allowed me to get very good at business etiquette.Along with being the Mechanical Director of the team during my senior year, I also worked on many different projects for the team over the three years I was on the team. These projects include: CFD analysis of the aeroshell, modeling and manufacturing components for the car, FEA analysis of the motor housing, carbon fiber lay up of the aeroshell, and lead of car ergonomics and driver integration.
