In that position, I am able to put my design skills to the test, as it is my role to optimize wind turbine locations to create the most cost-effective farm possible. In addition, I use my meteorological skills by processing raw meteorological data and model the wind regime at our projects, which I then use to calculate the farm’s energy production. Lastly, I use problem solving skills to work with developers and other SMEs to find solutions to the unique challenges each wind project faces, and to ensure that project milestones are met.I’m very enthusiastic about being apart of the renewable energy sector. With the ever-increasing challenges that our society is facing due to climate change, the transition to renewable sources of energy generation is imperative, and I want to play a role in that changeover. The meteorologist in me sees the increasing number of extreme weather events, and the outdoor enthusiast in me sees how our natural resources are being degraded further every year by a changing climate, so I’ve taken a personal interest in being a part of the solution.When I’m not designing a wind farm, you’ll probably find me storm chasing a tornado or a hurricane, hiking, gaming, or watching a NASCAR race.
