About Ryan Rigby
I enjoy developing software and learning about security protocols, such as those related to 5G communications and blockchain techniques, as well as other aspects of application security. My career started in the biomedical field, where I first learned to program as a means to further my research interests, and I quickly learned to appreciate the capabilities custom software can provide. I looked for ways to incorporate new software projects into my various professional and personal activities for several years before deciding to pursue software development full time and go back to school to earn an MS in Computer Science. I count myself fortunate to have found a career that I truly enjoy working in, and continue to grow and develop.
Listed skills include Cell Culture, Western Blotting, Electrophysiology, Physiology, and 41 others.

Software Developer 3
As a developer, I both supported existing applications, as well as developed new applications. Many of the applications use Microsoft technologies (e.g. C# and SQL Server), while others used platforms and languages such as OutSystems and Delphi. This position allowed me to grow as I leveraged my previous biomedical experience while working on software and troubleshooting issues to support the medical laboratory environment. I was also expected to document and provide support to both technical and non-technical professionals.
Technologist Ii Sr.
My primary responsibility is performing genetic diagnostic and screening tests. I also use my knowledge of software development to serve as a liason between laboratory personnel and software developers when new tools need to be developed for the laboratory. I have become intimately familiar with regulations and best practices regarding clinical laboratory testing. In January 2014 I earned an ASCP Molecular Biology Categorical Certification. During the course of my normal responsibilities, I have also assisted in evaluating, validating, and implementing commercial software, instrumentation, and methodologies for use in a clinical laboratory setting.
Research Assistant
This position involved biomedical research in the field of electrophysiology. I primarily worked on developing a new way of measuring ionic currents in cardiac ion channels. I had a wide range of responsibilities, including: experimental design, writing custom software tools, creating signal processing algorithms, reading scientific literature, publishing findings in peer reviewed journals, development and use of laboratory methodologies, data analysis, presentation of data internally and at professional conferences, and preparation of data for grant and patent applications. I also evaluated and validated new hardware, such as voltage clamp amplifiers, signal generators, and data acquisition systems.
Laboratory Technician
This position was in an academic research laboratory that studies biophysical properties of cardiac potassium channels. My responsibilities included: site-directed mutagenesis in K+ channel cDNA constructs, cell culture, developing western blot, immunofluorescence, and genotyping methodologies, managing ordering of equipment and supplies, and maintaining a database of genetic sequences.I also participated in weekly journal clubs and lab meetings. This was my first position after finishing my undergraduate education, and I am very grateful for the opportunity to work in this lab. I was exposed to many techniques and learned a great deal in this position. However, what I value most from this position is being given projects that neither my boss or I knew how to accomplish, and being told to "figure it out".
